Built to last, with a 10-year warrantied galvanised chassis, a coated steel pantile roof and bonded ‘sandwich’ exterior wall for greater strength. The CanExel high-density wood composite cladding with a durable, realistic woodgrain texture conveys a natural look, and an exclusive high-pitched roof with a vaulted ceiling plus LED canopy downlights announce the unit’s contemporary design.

ASK A QUESTION
  • What is a Pod?

For planning purposes, our Pods are generally classified as caravans. Under Section 29 of the Caravan Sites and Control of Development Act 1960, a caravan is a structure designed or adapted for human habitation that can be moved from one place to another.

To meet the legal definition, it must not exceed:

    20 metres in length

    6.8 metres in width

3.05 metres in internal height, measured from the floor to the highest point of the ceiling

  • Does a Pod need planning permission?

It depends on how and where you intend to use your Pod.

Pods used for commercial purposes, such as holiday lets or guest accommodation, will generally require planning permission. Pods for private use may not require planning permission in some circumstances, particularly where they fall within Permitted Development rights.

Planning requirements vary depending on the location, intended use and site-specific circumstances. We recommend contacting your local planning authority before installing a Pod.

  • What is planning permission?

Planning permission is formal approval from your local authority for the development, construction, alteration or change of use of land or buildings.

You may need planning permission before siting a Pod on your land. Your local planning authority can advise whether permission is required and which rules apply to your project.

  • What happens if my Pod requires planning permission?

We recommend checking the planning requirements for your proposed location at an early stage, and certainly before finalising purchase arrangements. Your local authority or a planning professional will be able to advise on any permissions or approvals you may need.

Static World can provide the relevant specifications and information about your chosen S-Pod to help support your planning enquiries or application.

  • What type of planning permission do I need?

If you intend to use your Pod commercially, or your project does not meet the requirements of Permitted Development, you will generally need to apply for full planning permission, also known as detailed planning permission.

Any permission granted will be subject to the conditions and time limits set out in the local authority’s decision notice.

  • Will I need a site licence?

If you plan to use your Pod as part of a commercial venture, you may also need a caravan site licence. Requirements can include:

    • Minimum spacing between units
    • Gas and electrical safety certificates, where applicable
    • Refuse and waste disposal
    • Suitable road access
    • Fire safety measures
    • Drainage and sanitation arrangements

The exact requirements depend on your local authority and the way your Pod will be used.

  • Is there anything else I should know?

Before choosing your S-Pod, it’s worth thinking about the practical side of getting it to its new home. S-Pods are delivered as complete units rather than flat-packed, so suitable access, space for installation and a prepared base are important. Depending on your location, specialist lifting equipment may also be required.

You should also consider connections to services such as electricity, water and drainage, along with any planning permission or site licensing requirements that may apply.

Don’t worry if you’re not sure where to start – talk to the Static World team about your plans and we’ll help you understand what to consider before placing your order.
